About the Journal

Archives of Acoustics is an English-language peer-reviewed online quarterly journal publishing original research papers from all areas of acoustics and abstracts from some specialized acoustical conferences. It gives free internet access to its full content to current issues.

Archives of Acoustics, the peer-reviewed online quarterly journal, publishes original research papers from areas of acoustics like:

  • linear and nonlinear acoustics:
    theory, acoustical measurements, and instrumentation

  • acoustics of music:
music theory, signal processing, and instrument building

  • physiological acoustics:
    hearing, audiology, and psychoacoustics

  • speech processing and communication systems:
speech production and perception, voice recognition and control

  • architectural, building, and environmental acoustics and soundscape

  • computational and numerical acoustics

  • sound and ultrasound in biology and medicine:
ultrasonic imaging, ultrasonography, high-intensity ultrasound, therapeutic ultrasound

  • electroacoustics:
research in the field of microphones, loudspeakers, headphones, accelerometers, acoustic calibrators

  • noise, noise control, and vibration:
theory and instrumentation for noise determination and sound quality criteria, audio signal processing and transducers, acoustic materials

  • sonochemistry:
acoustic cavitation, sonoprocessing, and all aspects of physical and chemical effects of sound

  • ultrasound and ultrasonic transducers

  • underwater acoustics:
    acoustical oceanography and fisheries acoustics

  • acousto-optics

  • artificial intelligence in acoustic research

Pre-Proof Publication (Early Bird) Option Available

2026-01-12

Archives of Acoustics introduces an Early Bird publication option, designed to accelerate the dissemination of accepted research and enhance authors’ visibility.

After a manuscript has been formally accepted for publication, authors may choose to have their article published online at an early stage, before copyediting, typesetting, and final editorial correction. These articles are made available as pre-proof publications with an active DOI, allowing the work to be visible, discoverable, and citable without waiting for assignment to a specific journal issue.

Early Bird articles are published in the author’s accepted version. They have not yet undergone final language verification, formatting, or technical editing by the journal’s editorial team. As such, the content may be subject to minor changes in the final Version of Record.

To clearly distinguish this stage of publication:
– each article is explicitly marked as “PRE-PROOF PUBLICATION”,
– a visible watermark appears on every page,
– and the article should be cited using the assigned DOI.

This publication model supports early dissemination of research results, facilitates citation tracking, and responds to authors’ needs for timely visibility.

Once the full editorial and production process is completed, the article will be replaced by its final version and published within a regular journal issue.

These are early versions of the articles, published prior to copyediting, typesetting, and editorial correction. The manuscripts have been accepted for publication and are now available online to ensure early dissemination, authors visibility, and citation tracking prior to the formal publications. It has not undergone final language verification, formatting, or technical editing by the journal’s editorial team. Content is subject to change in the final Version of Record. To differentiate this version, it is marked as “PRE-PROOF PUBLICATION” and should be cited with the provided DOI. A visible watermark on each page indicates its preliminary status.
